Speaker Bio: Rt Hon Baroness Neville-Jones
Rt Hon Baroness Neville-Jones DCMG is UK Special government representative to Business for Cyber Security “ an appointment by Prime Minister David Cameron that she has held from the time she stepped down in May 2011 from being Minister of State for Security and Counter Terrorism at the British Home Office with a permanent position on the newly created National Security Council. Prior to serving as a Minister in the Coalition government, with a seat on the House of Lords, she was David Cameron’s national security adviser while in opposition and the author of much of the Conservative party’s national security policy. She is patron of “Cyber Security Challenge” in the UK.
Pauline Neville-Jones was a career member of HM Diplomatic Service from 1963 to 1996, during which time she served in British Missions in Rhodesia, Singapore, Washington, DC in Bonn and in the European Commission. From 1991 to 1994 she was Head of the Defence and Overseas Secretariat in the Cabinet Office and Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet. During 1993 and 1994 she was Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee. From 1994, until her retirement, she was Political Director in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, in which capacity she led the British delegation to the Dayton negotiations on the Bosnia peace settlement. As chairman of QinetiQ Group Plc, Pauline took the defence and security company to flotation as a FTSE 250 company in 2006. She is a former Governor of the BBC.
