George A. "Tony" Robinson, Acting Regional Administrator, FEMA Region 6
Mr. Robinson was selected as Deputy Regional Administrator in January 2012. He previously served for seven years as the FEMA Region 6 Recovery Division Director. He is a native of Winchester, Virginia, and has 24 years of federal service with over 21 years in emergency management. He has provided leadership and oversight during federally declared disasters since 1991, including Hurricane Andrew, Loma Prieta Earthquake, Typhoon Pongsona, 9/11 and hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Ike and Gustav.
The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security appointed Mr. Robinson to serve as the Deputy Federal Coordinator for Super Bowl XLV in 2011, in Arlington, Texas. He has served on FEMA’s National Response Teams for National Special Security Events (NSSE) including the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics and the 2004 G-8 Summit in Sea Island, Georgia. He has also served on special international assignments with the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS) in Argentina and the Border Governors Conference in Mexico.
Mr. Robinson was presented the Nancy Doherty Special Achievement Award by the Dallas-Fort Worth Federal Executive Board recognizing the Federal Employee of the Year in 2008. He successfully completed the inaugural FEMA Management Intern Program in 1989. Prior to joining FEMA, Mr. Robinson worked for the Department of the Army at Fort Belvoir Research and Development Center.
