Gencat, a catalytic muffler was invented in 2005 by Robert Aratari in response to illnesses and deaths caused by CO poisoning from residential generators in use to counter the power failures caused by Hurricane Wilma. The Product Description:

Gencat™ Is a bolt-on replacement catalytic muffler for all gasoline / propane powered engines that reduces carbon monoxide by 99%.  Gencat™ is based on proven technology which has undergone years of continuous development and testing and has been tested by a certified by a EPA/CARB ISO9000 Laboratory showing a 99.1 reduction on carbon monoxide emissions. The Gencat is easy to install utilizing OE mounting hardware and can be installed in minutes   Gasoline /Propane powered Engines are used for a wide variety of applications are responsible for thousands of poisoning deaths and illnesses yearly on a worldwide basis as well as contributing to pollution and are estimated to account for up to 30% of greenhouse gas creation worldwide.  Gencat catalytic mufflers have been tested and approved for use by Fire Fighters in the United States and around the world.
